Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNO): Scores of unemployed dental surgeons from Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday staged a protest at Government Dental College and Hospital Srinagar, decrying the non-advertisement of dental surgeon posts for the last 17 years.
The protesting dental surgeons, carrying placards, raised slogans and demanded immediate intervention from the government to address their long-pending issue.
“We have worked hard for years to earn these degrees, but the government has failed to advertise even a single post for more than a decade,” said one of the protesting dental surgeons while speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Another protester said the government must recognise their plight. “Hundreds of qualified dental surgeons are sitting idle despite the shortage of dental healthcare services in many areas,” he said.
He added the government should either create new posts or advertise the existing vacant ones.
Meanwhile, the protesters appealed to the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to take immediate steps to resolve the issue and save the future of dental professionals in the Union Territory. “We have come here with hard work and the government must address the issue without further delay,” they added—(KNO)
